Bring On The Easter Eggs!

We spent the entire week leading up to Easter practicing for the egg hunt. In the beginning of the week baskets of eggs were located throughout the house and Carter would methodically take the eggs and pull each one apart. As the week progressed we started adding treats to the inside of the eggs. He was delighted to find cookies inside the eggs and he gobbled them up.

When the egg hunt began on Easter Sunday Carter took his few second time advantage and, with a little help from mama, began gathering up eggs by the handful. He made sure that the egg hunt was fair as he left all of the harder to find eggs for the older kids. When it was all said and don he had himself a basket full of colorful and shiny eggs. The training paid off in this phase of the egg hunt.

The part of the training that didn't quite sink in was that there were treats inside the eggs. Carter has n0t had the privilege of realizing that chocolate is the apex treat that a youngster can have. That was where mama and dada failed in his training... had their been an animal cookie inside the egg he would have been all over it but, alas, he delighted in opening up the eggs and throwing the contents on the ground or in the flowerbed. His cousin Finley followed his progress and scooped up his dropped treasures one by one. Notice in the picture the two candies by his left foot and the one he is currently dropping in his right hand.

Carter's first egg hunt was a success! He had a blast, got to hang out with his cousins, found some shiny eggs, and he was wearing pants with whales on them the entire time. Only Carter can pull off pants with whales for Easter.
